Etch y medio es un deseo de Debian, de soportar hardware que requiere actualización de sus controladores.
Es la primera vez que el Proyecto Debian actualiza varios paquetes básicos en su distribución estable, basicamente incluyen el kernel 2.6.24 que sin duda soporta más hardware que el que traía Etch (2.6.18).
